Dubai :A high-level delegation of the Pakistan Business Council Sharjah (PBCS), led by Mr. Syed Saleem Akhtar, Senior Vice Chairman held a productive meeting with H.E. Mr. Denny Lesmana, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral trade, investment, and business cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.
The delegation of Pakistan Business Council Sharjah included Senior Vice Chairman Syed Saleem Akhtar, Vice Chairman Aamir Hassan, President Women Wing Dr. Noor-ul-Saba, Director Events Zaheer Ahmed, and President Event Committee Shafiqur-ur-Rehman.

Speaking on behalf of the Pakistan Business Council Sharjah, Mr. Syed Saleem Akhtar expressed sincere appreciation to H.E. Mr. Denny Lesmana for the warm welcome and generous hospitality. He also extended special thanks to Mr. Ahmad Ma’rufi for his initiative and dedication in establishing a meaningful connection between the Indonesian Consulate General and PBCS.
During the meeting, Mr. Syed Saleem Akhtar highlighted the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and Indonesia, emphasizing that both countries enjoy deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties. He noted that there remains tremendous untapped potential to significantly increase bilateral trade, investment, tourism, and industrial cooperation.
He also praised Indonesia’s remarkable achievements as Southeast Asia’s largest economy, a G20 member, and the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation. He commended Indonesia’s leadership in palm oil, nickel, renewable energy, manufacturing, and the digital economy, while appreciating the visionary development of Nusantara, Indonesia’s future capital city.
Commenting on the significance of the meeting, Mr. Syed Saleem Akhtar stated:
“Pakistan Business Council Sharjah is committed to serving as a bridge between the business communities of Pakistan and Indonesia. We strongly believe that increased business-to-business engagement will unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, innovation, and sustainable economic growth. Today’s meeting marks the beginning of a stronger and long-lasting partnership between our two brotherly nations.”
As a key outcome of the meeting, the Pakistan Business Council Sharjah proposed organizing a Pakistan–Indonesia Business Networking Forum in Sharjah. The proposed forum will bring together Indonesian businesses operating in the UAE and members of the Pakistan Business Council Sharjah to exchange ideas, explore investment opportunities, and establish long-term commercial partnerships.
Both sides expressed their commitment to maintaining close cooperation and working together to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations through regular engagement and joint business initiatives.
Following the formal discussions, the Consul General graciously hosted the PBCS delegation for an authentic Indonesian lunch, providing an excellent opportunity for further networking and strengthening personal and professional relationships in a relaxed environment.
The meeting concluded with a ceremonial exchange of gifts, symbolizing the friendship and growing partnership between Pakistan and Indonesia. On behalf of the Pakistan Business Council Sharjah, Mr. Syed Saleem Akhtar, Senior Vice Chairman presented premium Pakistani mangoes, elegantly packed in a beautifully handcrafted wooden gift box, to H.E. Mr. Denny Lesmana, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, as a token of goodwill and appreciation. The thoughtful gift showcased one of Pakistan’s finest agricultural products while reflecting the country’s rich cultural heritage and renowned hospitality.
The Pakistan Business Council Sharjah looks forward to working closely with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center to transform the positive outcomes of this meeting into practical initiatives that will promote trade, investment, and stronger economic cooperation between Pakistan and Indonesia.
