University majors exhibition brings universities, experts, skills assessments and 36 sessions to Sharjah

Sharjah Public Libraries (SPL) is putting students’ strengths and ambitions at the centre of university decision-making at the eighth University Majors Exhibition, where they can assess their skills, explore academic options and hear first-hand from universities and experts.
Held under the theme “Path to the Future”, the exhibition will run from September 21 to 29, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, at Sharjah Book Authority headquarters. This year’s programme introduces the interactive “Miqyas” assessment, which helps students identify majors and career options suited to their skills and interests, alongside 36 sessions and workshops on academic choices, scholarships, future skills and employment.
Students and parents can also meet representatives of universities, colleges and academic institutions to discuss programmes, admissions, scholarships and university life. The exhibition will welcome female students on September 21 and 22, male students on 23 and 24, and male and female students from international schools on 28 and 29.
Know yourself, choose your major
The exhibition is built around the principle that choosing a major requires students to understand not only the programmes available but also their abilities and interests, the skills they need to develop and the professional opportunities associated with different fields of study.

This reflects our role as a library, providing knowledge that helps people navigate the decisions that shape their lives.”
Miqyas maps students’ skills
Introduced at this year’s exhibition, “Miqyas” is an interactive assessment that evaluates skills such as creativity, adaptability, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
It also explores skills associated with prospective majors, including scientific research, academic writing, communication and the use of artificial intelligence tools. Based on students’ responses, it suggests academic majors and career options aligned with their interests and ambitions.
36 sessions and workshops
The exhibition will present 36 sessions and workshops across two new tracks, “Future Dialogues” and “Pulse of the Major”, addressing academic and professional experiences, scholarships, workplace skills and changes in the job market.
Inspired by the “Human Library” concept, “Future Dialogues” draws on real-life experiences to explore professional excellence, future workplace skills, scholarships, leadership and academic success.
“Pulse of the Major” focuses on questions students face before university, including choosing a major, scholarships and the future of jobs in the age of artificial intelligence. It also includes English-language sessions on success, admission and scholarship interviews, and post-school skills.
Direct access to universities
Students can meet university and college representatives to compare programmes, admission requirements, tuition fees, scholarships, accreditation, university life and employment prospects.
An electronic Visitor Guide will provide an exhibition map, service locations and suggested questions to help students structure conversations with university representatives and compare their options.
23 universities under one roof
The eighth edition of the exhibition brings together 23 universities, academic institutions and entities, including: University of Sharjah, American University of Sharjah, Ajman University, Zayed Military University, Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Khalifa University, University of Kalba, Zayed University, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, Al Wasl University, Fatima College of Health Sciences, Fujairah University, Al Ain University, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai, Sharjah Police Sciences Academy, Dubai Police Academy, Sharjah Maritime Academy, University of Dubai, Higher Colleges of Technology, University of Al Dhaid, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Emirates Aviation University.
Support beyond the exhibition
A dedicated SPL platform will introduce students to printed and electronic books, databases, knowledge resources and study spaces available across its branches, supporting them during university and beyond.
Students visiting the exhibition will also receive a 50% discount on SPL membership fees during the event.
From 683 to 6,000 visitors
Attendance at the University Majors Exhibition has grown from 683 visitors at its launch in 2018 to 6,000 in 2025, an increase of 778%.
